I tried them too and they didn’t work today. I don’t know why… if you search for “Ski hat with ear flaps” you get the knitlist ski hat link that I gave earlier and it works. If you’d like to try the Thorpe hat, I would just try searching for “Thorpe knit pattern” and I’m sure you’ll be able to find it.

I need to go investigate why those links are not working!

They are most commonly known as ski hats or earflap hats. The first pattern I ever used is this one: http://www.knitlist.com/95gift/ski.htm. It’s pretty easy and knits up quick. The pattern for the Thorpe hat can be found here: http://throughtheloops.typepad.com/through_the_loops/2007/12/i-knit-through.html. That one is top down so it’s a little tricky to start but once you get it going it’s super easy. I hope that helps you. Good luck!
